Day 238

We saw quite a few Osprey and their young on our expedition to Glacier National Park.  The power company builds nesting platforms next to the power lines so the birds don’t nest in the wires.  The first nest was just a little bit out in a field.

(All photos and video taken on my Nikon Coolpix P7100)

This nest is at the junction of US 89 and MT 17, where MT 17 heads up towards Waterton National Park in Canada.  This is Chief Mountain.

This one is just out of Babb a couple of miles on the north side of the highway on the way to Many Glacier.

I made a short video of the the five (??!!) Osprey in this nest.  The roaring in the background in the is the river coming out of Many Glacier.  It will open in a different window.

Osprey Nest

Here one of the adult decide to fly around and try to lead us off.

That didn’t work.

Eventually it came back to the nest.  The nearby cows just stared at us.
