The Dailylife Wife and I saw this bird flitting around a bunch, but we never got a really good look at it (that means a good look at it AND the Bird Book on her iPad at the same time!). Â I was able to get some good photos at last. Â It was not easy, as you can see: the whites are very easily blown out (over saturated), just like snow…and why not? Â It is a Snowy Egret!
A strange pose…

Three variations on one photo.

(A 100% crop)
You can see how bright the Snowy Egret is; I was under exposing 1 2/3 stops on this photo and still the whites blew out!

Closer…
(1/250s f/5.6 ISO100 42.6mm (35mm eq:200mm) -1.7 stops P7100)
The whites blew out here at 1 2/3 stops under exposure, also.
(1/200s f/5.6 ISO100 42.6mm (35mm eq:200mm) -1.7 stops P7100)
This one is pretty good…at two stops under!
(1/800s f/5.6 ISO100 42.6mm (35mm eq:200mm) -2 stops P7100)
A few more to follow.
