After Lunch Lugnut and I headed for…the Monorail!
The Monorail loops around 2.5 miles of Disneyland, California Adventure and Downtown Disney. Â It starts at one of the two stations: Tomorrowland or Downtown Disney. Â Then it loops through the trees and alongside of the main street OFF of the Disney property, across the “Disney Transit Center” where all of the Busses and Parking Lot Trams come, and the main gate is.
Then it whips through the edge of California Adventure, through a hotel, and into the Downtown Disney Station. Â You can see the back of the Lego Store and a major street runs between the palm trees below it.
After leaving the Downtown Disney Station it crosses back along the front of Disneyland, over the entrance. Â You can see the main entrance to California Adventure here. Â The Disneyland main gate is just behind us; the Transit Center is just ahead to the left.
There goes the other train. Â There are usually two running.
The Monorail then winds back through Disneyland, over Fantasyland, the Matterhorn, parts of the backlots Disney doesn’t normally let you see, and several parts of old, no longer used rides. Â You can see the former Monorail track here…with a section missing! Â The building behind that seems to be the Monorail Roundhouse.
Lugnut seems to be a happy Railfan, and why shouldn’t we, errrr…he…be? Â We only rode the loop three times!
