Daily Life

It was cold (really cold!) and the sky was clear.  I was able to catch the Moonrise over the Highwoods.  Note the lack of clarity: the cold sky, especially by the horizon, is unsettled air and not particularly good to photograph through.  The bottom is just cut off by the skyline.

A few minutes later it is better, but not much.

  

Compare these images, taken on a tripod, with the one below, taken freehand (with lens image stabilization) just a month ago on 19 Nov 13, on Kaua’i.  The Moon was overhead and the photo was taken through the least amount of atmosphere.  The same lens was used for all three photos.
