It was cold (really cold!) and the sky was clear. Â I was able to catch the Moonrise over the Highwoods. Â Note the lack of clarity: the cold sky, especially by the horizon, is unsettled air and not particularly good to photograph through. Â The bottom is just cut off by the skyline.
A few minutes later it is better, but not much.
Compare these images, taken on a tripod, with the one below, taken freehand (with lens image stabilization) just a month ago on 19 Nov 13, on Kaua’i. Â The Moon was overhead and the photo was taken through the least amount of atmosphere. Â The same lens was used for all three photos.
