Day 57, a new Moonrise…

The Moon comes up in the afternoon right now.  This was an interesting reflection; just watch for two seconds and you will see it really is the Moon!  Click on it a couple times to see it full sized.  BACK to return!

This is a variation on an old technique called Day-for-Night.  In old movies (and some not so old) when there is a night scene and it looks like a very bright moon and everything is pretty much visible, except in really dark shadows, that is Day-for-Night.  It is shot in the daytime, usually with a dark blue filter to make it look like it is night.  Here I tried to blue things up and make it look somewhat like a night shot.  It was taken at 4:22 pm, full daylight in Great Falls.
