Day Six: on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon!
I was up well before dawn, waiting for the Moon to set. Eventually I headed out to see the sunrise at Point Imperial.

I got cold as I was motoring along toward Point Imperial. Near the Canyon’s edge, like at the campground, you get a nice warm updraft (quite noisy sometimes!), but it just got cold riding over the ridge. How cold? It was so cold…wait, I saw something…

…it’s a Christmas Tree!

There was frost on the end of every branch of the tree, decorating it quite nicely for Christmas!
So how cold was it? 25F, a degree cooler than in Yellowstone, and the coldest of my trip!

More details as it gets lighter…At the Grand Canyon the image is completely changed if you just wait a few minutes! The point of rock in this photo in the top right is the same point of rock in the middle left above.

I was alone when I got to the Point Imperial overlook, but a crowd soon formed. One ot the two people on the right is the guy that kindly snapped my photo a couple times. The person on the far left is actually two girls huddling together; they are with the one sitting down. They are all wrapped in blankets: they didn’t bring any coats that I could see! They are three girls on holiday to Las Vegas from England and Australia, and decided they should see more of America than just Vegas. They were not very prepared for the outdoors, but there sure were having fun!
