The Grand Canyon Lodge is a work of art. It sits at the end of a long, narrow peninsula, and you see the Lodge before you really see anything else.

First you pass the campground and gas station, then an assortment of Motel and Pioneer Cabins, and finally the Lodge, with Gift shops, Bars and Restaurants.

It was designed so when you come in you see the Canyon for the first time…

The Restaurant fills a wing; to the right is a large patio with an enormous fireplace.

Of course, besides all the booze and food and gifts, people come for the view.

Behind those distant mountains, known as the San Francisco Peaks, lies Flagstaff, Arizona. I want to go back and stay by the Lodge!
