What the heck is with the rugs? Â I’ll tell you later. Â It took me a couple of days. Â There is potential for great mischief…
We awoke on our first day at sea to fog.
And live flowers at breakfast!
This is a view of the pool on the Lido Deck.  It is looking back the other way from the one with the cargo netting last night.  I am not sure what the bears and gold represent; I presume it is Alaska.  They must have a variety of sculptors they put there, because this ship sails all over the world.
Another view of the Lido with those neat overhead doors. Â This is to the left of the photo above. Â The “Dive In” burger bar is behind the bear.
To take up part of my afternoon, I attended a beer tasting of four Alaskan Brewing beers. Â It was $12.95, which meant I got about two beers for free: alcohol is expensive on this Tub, even if the Captain left two $50 drink cards in our room. Â I think they lasted until Wednesday night..we aren’t big drinkers…{!-{>
And here she comes!
(This is an animated GIF, but it doesn’t want to work in my two browsers when I checked it. Â It was working when it was the only thing on the screen, so click on it and see if it does work.)
The White and Wheat were okay.  The Amber was passable.  The IPA the guy  from Germany next to me didn’t finish.
To each his own. Â On my previous trips to Alaska by motorcycle I drank Corona. Â I did finish the IPA…
Back outside the world intruded slightly, if you were a seagull, anyway. Â This is a first year Herring Gull.
The fog was still present. Â This is nearing the ned of Vancouver Island.
And this.
How did we know? Â One way was the screens on the ship that gave location, time, speed, weather, and depth.
It was enjoyable to just watch the fog roll in and out, too.
Or the wake from the ship.
We even went to a show! Â Dancing and singing. Â Here is the Queen’s Lounge where many of the shows were held.
(A three photo panorama!)
Then it was up to the Crow’s Nest to watch the sea.
And of course, the drink of the day: Alaskan Ice Tea! Â Although I don’t think there was any actual like, ummm, tea, involved. Â It was worth a repeat, however!
By then it was close to bedtime…and still light out!
~Curtis, bound for Alaska! {!-{>
