It is Train Time again! Here is the daily grain train heading out to the Malting Plant north of Great Falls. This is from the upper overlook below Rainbow Dam and Falls.

The trains like to play hide-and-seek through the hillocks and cuts along the river here.

It is kind of fun to just see the tops of the locomotives and cars.

Here is a nice panorama from two photos, stitched together in MS ICE. The building on the horizon on the far left of the image is the Malting Plant. The tracks make a wide circle from here back across the prairie on the far side of the river. You can just see the cut on the right side of the photo as the tracks turn back towards the Malting Plant. There is a switch just out of sight: left goes to the Malting Plant; right goes to Fort Benton.
Click a time or two on the photo to see it full sized, then BACK to return!
This one is from three photos. There are a couple technical glitches with the train…
If you look closely at the photo full sized the second locomotive (in BN Green) and one of the grain cars (Red) are over long. The train was mioving as I took the several photos needed, and when stitching the photos together these two got stuck in the process and we get to see them…very long…
