Day 273

On to the North Rim!  Part 3 of  Day 5:

The weather got a lot better as I rode down toward Page, Arizona.  It even got hot!  I got stuck in a traffic jam…they were clearing water off the road.  Using this helpful school bus, I discovered one of my low beam elements was out on my headlight..It is a good thing I use more than just my stock headlights!

(Nikon Coolpix L11)

I found a nice new windmill out in the middle of nowhere…

My trusty DejaT4 looked pretty clean after all that rain.

This clud was interesting.  I have only boosted the redish color a little.  I think it is reflecting the color of the soil around here.

I shot a nice cloud panorama, but I didn’t get the ground lined up between shots.  You just have to take the whole thing.

After leaving Page the road winds nicely around, and then comes the this rock.

It splits…

…down the middle…

…then whammo!!!

Out you come above another valley!

The country was open and beautiful.

This is just out of Mable Canyon…there are a bunch of balanced rocks and a house built around one.  An old time tourist trap!  I wished I’d had time to stop…

I dodged this rainstorm for several miles until I rode back into the hills and forest again.

Riding South down the highway towards the Grand Canyon National Park I got a sign it would be a pretty good visit!

Once in the Park I got a few brief, tantalizing glimpses…

And then, once I got signed in to the campground, there it is: The Canyon!
