Day 250

(1/45, f8, 85mm, ISO 200, -1/2 stop) ~Curtis in BC! {!-{>

Day 249: Back on the Kettle Valley line…

On the ride back to the station we saw local wildlife… Where the old Volks along the KVR go. The rear of the train. The view from the middle. The front of the train. Safely back at the station. All in all, a nice little trip! ~Curtis in BC! {!-{>

Day 248

Last night Robyn, Walter and I shot the Moon from their driveway.  The first is heavily processed, because it wasn’t too clear in part from shooting through a thousand miles or more of atmosphere.  As it came up we saw it through less and less atmosphere, and the photos got much clearer.  And less red. […]

Day 247: The Turn-around…sort of…

After a nice six mile trip, we stopped for a short time.  The engine uncoupled, then backed down (well, it actually ran forwards…) the siding to the rear of the train, to couple on the right way, not reversed as it was on the trip out here. And here we are, complete again.  My brother-in-law […]

Day 246

The existing section of the Kettle Valley Railway is in the northern Okanogan, a valley of incredible fruit and vegetable growing potential, and it is well used!  It starts down south in Washington State, and runs north through Osoyoos, BC to just north of Summerland, where the KVR is.  We started at the Station on […]

Day 245

The Dailylife Wife has been talking about an RV or travel trailer for when we retire.  I saw the answer to our problems in the parking lot of the Kettle Valley Railway!  Why not have both!!!???!!! ~Curtis in BC! {!-{>

Day 244: The Kettle Valley Railway pt 1

Finally, the Train!  This is the Kettle Valley Railway, located in Summerland, BC.  They were able to save ten miles of track, out of hundreds… This is the 3716, a Montreal Locomotive Works 2-8-0. Looking the other way, we see the cars attached to the front of the engine.  Yes, we will be backing up […]

Day 243

Here is the better view of Osoyoos and it’s lake.  This is taken from a view point on the highway directly below the Observatory B&B.  That is the US on the left.  Osoyoos is on the spit of land that crosses the lake in the right hand third of the photo. (Click to enlarge, BACK […]

Day 242

We went to my sister’s, then the next day we all drove over to Osoyoos, BC, Canada, where the Trains are!  We stayed at the Observatory B&B, a very nice place and aptly named.  The host, Jack Newton,  has a 16″ telescope on his roof in a dome, and gives presentations. (Canon Powershot SX100IS) While […]

Day 241

I got to take a quick trip up to see my sister.  This is a cloud reflecting the sunset through my Step Mom’s kitchen window at Dad’s house.  He went too…Trains and Motorcycles! (Apple iPod) ~Curtis in /\/\onTana! {!-{>
