It was a very orderly boarding of the Pride of America, but we still had about a three and a half hour wait until our stateroom was ready. Â The ship carries 2200-2400 passengers, and all of those staterooms have to be cleaned and refitted between about 10am and 3pm. Â We looked around a bit, and ended up having lunch here in the Aloha Cafe buffet. Â We ended up having almost all of our meals here. Â The food was really good, as was the selection, and we were doing so many shore excursions we never really had the energy to dress up and go to a more formal restaurant.
Topside was the pool deck, with bar, grill and music, live and canned! Â Unlike our 2009 cruise to Alaska, it was warm enough to actually sit out there!
A bit after 3pm we get the word our stateroom was ready. Â It was a pretty good size! Â Here is the Dailylife Wife relaxing by the balcony.
This is the other way. Â The bathroom is through the door by the mirror. Â Very small, but efficient.
We got a complimentary bottle of wine. Â It was pretty good, and I kept the Corkscrew!
This is a panorama of the Port of Honolulu, or the part we were in, anyway. Â I took it from our balcony. Â We were up high (the ninth floor) and there was a steel deck sticking out above our room. Â On the left a tug is bringing in a barge.

A bit later the sun was going down.
The light show was pretty good, so we went on up on the top deck and watch Honolulu and Waikiki as the sun set.
The Dailylife Wahine on the Starboard side.
And on the Port side.
A more traditional view of the sunset.
And after the sun was down the roving Irish Pub Hop started…it was St. Patrick’s Day, after all! Â After we set sail, it turned into a Parrot Head’s dream: Â A Jimmy Buffet Sailing Away party, with a pretty good singer for all of his hits. Â Ahhh, to be young and still have a liver!
