Day 96: A Whale of an Afternoon, pt 2

The photos in this post are one series of shots I took.  In all I doubt it took ten seconds.  The photos are a bit grainy because of the sea-mist I was shooting through, the “high” ISO I had to use (500) and they are hand held.  The whales are several hundred yards away.  At sea level this would look like a ball of serpents…

They feed all summer near Alaska, then come down here for the winter to give north.  They don’t eat here.

If you look closely there is a third whale to the left side of the photo in the next four photos.

The third whale is easier to see now the middle one has gone under.

Blooop!  Gone without a sound.  Not that we could hear, anyway; we were a lot closer on the Alaska cruise!

And so ends our Whale of an Afternoon!
