This is a five photo panorama of Rainbow Dam and Falls, with the trestle in the background. Â They are replacing the rubber barriers they use on half of the dam. Â On the left side you can see the walkway across, with little space below it. Â On the right side there is a big space. Â That is normally filled with a heavy black rubber curtain that holds back the water. Â They just loosen the top to let water out, and tighten it again to stop it. Â If you click on the photo a couple times to enlarge it you can see the barge and crane they are using to make the switch.

Colter Falls was an six and a half foot high fall right behind where the trestle is. Â After Rainbow Dam was built it was completely covered by the backed up water, and eventually buried in silt. Â No one has seen it in many years.
