Day 214: Juneau, part 1

Yup.  They change the day on the elevator rug to let people have some idea of when it is…if they want to mess with you they just have to  “reorder” the week a little!

Day1421401

A two photo panorama from the top deck of our damp morning.  This is also a nice view of the moveable roof over the Lido Pool.

Day1421402

Just some of the water going by…wallpaper sized, of course!

Day1421403

Pilings and pipes from someone’s former abode…

Day1421404

A couple of the waterfalls.

Day1421406

Surf Scoters in flight.

Day1421409

Approaching the dock in Juneau.

Day1421410

You can ride a tram to the top of a mountain overlooking town.  I am not sure why, today…

Day1421408

They place the gangway with a forklift here.  These towns have been pretty ingenious about how they accommodate the cruise ships.  Some of them are very dependent on them for the Summer’s income.

Day1421407

Then we were off the boat and on an excursion.  First stop: a salmon hatchery.

The salmon were running and the ladder is full!

Day1421411

The entrance is full of salmon, and occasionally otters…

Day1421413

Some of the fish were jumping up the ladder, and occasionally you’d get one going the other way…

Day1421414

Some of the fish in the tank.  They don’t raise salmon here, they just help them on their merry way.

Day1421415

A close up form the aquarium.

Day1421416

Stand by for Part 2!
