Day 276: The Rest of Yellowstone!

On this trip, anyway.

Riding North from Canyon Village the first thing I did was ride up Dunraven Pass (8859 feet) into the snow.  This did, however, get me out of the Caldera.  It was about 50 miles by road from one side to the other.  That is one BIG volcano!

Coming down the north side of Dunraven Pass is very open and scenic.

Of course, with photography on a moving motorcycle it is always a challenge to line stuff up and stay on the road…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The view is always great, however.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

There are some cliffs to ride by.

And while there are a lot of cars (but less than during the summer in Yellowstone) at least some of them are fun to look at.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

No matter when or where, though, there will always be a traffic jam in Yellowstone.  The reason this time?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Bighorn sheep.

Then it is off down the road again!  This is the west end of the Lamar Valley.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It is one of the best places to see wildlife.  Usually.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here is the east end of the Valley.  Notice:  No Wildlife Seen.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Back up into the trees and mountains again!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hey!  One more chance to see the wildlife, even if the photos aren’t the best.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Buffalo are always fun on the road.  When riding a motorcycle.  {!-{P

The NorthEast Entrance.  Next stop, Cooke City.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The one thing you see very little of in Yellowstone is overhead wires.  I guess I am out of the Park!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Of course once I reached Cooke City it was time for a gas stop.  Now I go up.  And up.  And UP!
