While some mourn our “inhumanity” as expressed on Aug 6th, 1945, some do not. My father-in-law was home on 30 days leave after spending about six years in Europe fighting the Nazis as a member of the Royal Canadian Artillery. At the end of the 30 days leave he was to report to Vancouver for transport to the front with Japan. He won’t bad mouth the Bomb.
The estimated 1,000,000 casualties expected on THE ALLIED SIDE ALONE during the invasion of the Japanese Home Island won’t bad mouth the Bomb.
The Japanese were expected to suffer between 2,000,000 and 5,000,000 casualties at least.
A terrible weapon? Of course. It sure saved a lot of lives on both sides, though.
