A closeup of the words…

Day1412301b

Half a mile from the Arch is the gatehouse, where you pays yer moneys.  $25 per vehicle, $80 for an annual all parks pass.  A bit beyond that is the border into Wyoming.  An interesting fact is that 90%+ of Yellowstone lies within Wyoming.  The rest is in /\/\onTana! and Idaho.  Three of the five entrances are in /\/\onTana! and none in Idaho.  Here you are half way…

Day1412302

A couple of elk, leaving the area.

Day1412303

At the far end of the Lamar Valley the road runs east to Cooke City, /\/\onTana!

Day1412304

And in the Winter, or late Spring as it is now, Cooke City is as far as you go without a snowmobile.  Where the road ends in this photo it turns to snow.

Day1412305

Soda Butte. a left over geyser that doesn’t geys anymore.  It just smells bad!
