Day 272

A weekend or so ago Granddaughter Toots traveled to K-M Scout Ranch for her Ordeal for Order of the Arrow (a Scouting Honor Camper society and service organization, members of which are chosen by their Troops and non-members).  It is a Scout Thing! {!-{>

While it did not work out to actually have it presented to her as her sash in the final ceremony, the White Arrow sash she is wearing is my sash from 49 years ago.  Our names and years are on it, and she will pass it on to her two brothers, a sister, and her Dad as they are inducted into OA.  Then it will be put away for the next generation.

The coat and beret are my old ones, too…I wore that coat all the way through high school, and it isn’t all that big on her!  Other than the sleeves.  How times change…

Melita Island is a 40 acre island out in Flathead Lake devoted to Scouting.  Summers there are wonderful.  It was not open this year (like so many places) due to the CCP Flu, but hopefully next year…
